Despite all the wins and progress we’ve experienced as a community over the last 30 years, poverty remains a persistent and urgent problem in Greenville County.
United Way of Greenville County’s “How We Win” strategy focuses on fighting poverty by addressing the interconnected areas of Education, Housing, Childcare, and Transportation. By investing in these areas, you can remove barriers for our community’s most vulnerable families and help them achieve their full potential:

United Way of the Midlands (SC)
We are a local charitable organization creating generational change in the Midlands.
Unlike smaller nonprofits who often have a very defined focus, we take a multifaceted approach to some of the biggest problems facing our society. Problems like homelessness, children's literacy, and lack of access to healthcare. By addressing these core issues, we break cycles of crisis and empower people to build their own paths to success.

United Way of Anderson County (SC)
At United Way of Anderson County, we’re dedicated to improving lives and strengthening our community through four key pillars: Health, Education, Financial Stability, and Basic Needs. We do this by strategically funding programs and creating partnerships to support these key areas. We go beyond temporary fixes and tackle some of the biggest, most complex problems facing our community.

United Way of the Lakelands (SC)
United Way of the Lakelands is a local nonprofit that mobilizes our community to action so all can thrive. With deep local roots, we see how our communities’ greatest challenges are connected — and how we can bring people and resources together to address them. That’s why we’re here, in our communities, always listening and ready to respond. Working together with our neighbors, we’re strengthening local resilience and advancing health, youth opportunity, and financial security for all. Here in the Lakelands, we’re committed to driving real change that impacts our families, friends, and neighbors, ensuring a brighter future for everyone.

United Way of Laurens County (SC)
United Way of Laurens County strives to create long-lasting community change by addressing the underlying causes of the most significant local issues. Common focus areas include helping children and youth achieve their potential, promoting financial stability and independence, and improving people’s health. United Way of Oconee County (SC)
United Way of Oconee County seeks to coordinate and develop resources to identify, evaluate and efficiently serve the needs of the community. We are governed by a 17-member Board of Directors who work to support a broad range of agencies and human services in the local community. Our volunteers plan for future community needs and allocate the money raised through a systematic review process.

United Way of Pickens County (SC)
Our strategic approach to community problem solving concentrates on collaboration and results. We achieve results through providing services through programs such as Camp iRock summer reading program and Pathways financial coaching, while also supporting programming provided by our trusted community partners.Our focus is on Education and Financial Stability, because these are the building blocks for a good quality of life. We fight for 3rd graders to read on grade level, and for families and individuals to find a pathway out of poverty. We partner with people and organizations from all across the community who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done.

United Way of the Piedmont (SC)
For 85 years, United Way of the Piedmont has united local nonprofits, businesses, and community members to tackle the biggest challenges facing Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties. We want a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, and we won't stop until we get there.

United Way of Sumter, Clarendon and Lee Counties (SC)
A strong community is one where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
